HOURS: Monday - Friday inclusive. 9am - 3.30pm. Term time only.

Introduction.

Castles Education LLP is a fast-growing group of Independent Schools providing specialist educational services for 11 – 16-year-old students with social emotional and mental health issues. We are seeking applications from suitably experienced candidates to help us build upon the Castles vision and to support our rapid growth. Purpose of the Post:

We are looking for an ambitious SEMH Behaviour Support Practitioners to support and inspire students that are on Educational Health Care Plans at our school in Scunthorpe. This is an exciting full time role within a school that has an outstanding reputation for its dedication to inclusion.

The SEMH and Behaviour Support Practitioner will provide a complementary service to support teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their true potential, or accessing the curriculum in order to help to reduce incidences of internal and external exclusion.

We are looking for someone who can work effectively within a support team and alongside the teaching staff and will possess a genuine commitment towards making a positive contribution to the school.

Castles Schools are modern, vibrant facilities with excellent equipment hosting up to 60 students per School at one time. Class sizes are small which promotes our desire for high-quality teaching and learning. Our learners are supported with external vocational experience providing the holistic learning environment required for a rounded education.

The role and duties will include:

  • Supporting staff and learners within a classroom setting as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Supporting identified pupils who require additional adult support in the classroom.

  • Delivering teaching assistance to small groups or 1:1 interventions.

  • Supporting pupils in crisis through the use of Team Teach including the use of de-escalation techniques and strategies.

  • Preparing and supporting pupils to return to learning as quickly as possible.

  • Keeping accurate records of intervention on pupil intervention logs.

  • Keeping Pupil Profiles, Pupil Support Plans and Risk Assessments up to date.

  • Keeping accurate records of Restrictive Positive Intervention logs and ensuring appropriate follow up has taken place, including parent/carer contact and

  • restorative practices.

  • Supporting the Behaviour Lead(s) with the delivery of staff training.

  • Attending daily briefings, staff meetings and CPD sessions.

  • Demonstrating ‘Unconditional Positive Regard’, every single day.

  • Preparing and supporting pupils with next steps e.g. moving on to a new school.

About you?

To succeed in this role we are looking for an individual who can demonstrate and fulfil the following key criteria:

  • Previous experience working in the SEMH school environment.

  • GCSE Grade C in English and Mathematics or equivalent.

  • A related NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification.

  • A nurturing and supportive nature with good behaviour management strategies and a clear understanding and knowledge of the stages of behaviour.

  • Patience, understanding and a sense of humour are essential.

  • A current, enhanced, updated DBS check (or be willing to undertake one).

  • Be willing to undergo a thorough vetting and recruitment process to help ensure the safeguarding of our students.
