Learning & Behaviour Mentors / Minibus Drivers

SALARY: £ 27,787 pa
COMMENCEMENT: Ideally in readiness for upcoming school term / 1st September 2021


Castles Education LLP is a fast-growing group of Independent Schools providing specialist educational services for 11 – 16-year-old students with social emotional and mental health issues. Our ‘Futures’ educational programme aims to build self-belief, create social and personal opportunity, raise standards, develop ambitious personal aspirations and to create safe trusting environments for everyone in our care regardless of their social, emotional, personal or geographical background.

We are seeking applications an enthusiastic and reliable Mini-Bus Driver / Learning & Behaviour Mentor to join our valuable driver and support team to assist with the collection and drop-off of school children in the morning and late afternoon, willing to also help support our students learning in between journey times.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a friendly and successful group of Independent School’s and be an integral part of Castles Futures daily operations.

The post-holder will be required to drive the School's Mini-Bus between the hours of 8.00am and 09.30am and 14.30pm to 16.00pm and support our students on Education Health Care Plans during the school day. 9.30am – 2.30pm Monday to Friday during term-time only (38 weeks) 5 days a week, collecting students from the Doncaster and surrounding areas to our School in Scunthorpe with a return journey at the end of the School day.

There may be a requirement for additional hours to support sporting and other school trips outside of those core duties - government guidance permitting.

We are ideally looking for an individual who has had past experience in similar roles and more particularly within educational services. Applicants should be aware of the sometimes challenging nature of those in our care and be able to demonstrate a patient and sympathetic approach to supporting pupil transport.

To be considered for this role you must meet the following criteria:

- Hold a suitable (clean) driving licence.
- Have an acceptable history of driving licence qualification.
- A willingness to work with young people of mixed backgrounds.
- A belief that all young people deserve a good education.
- Patience and a good sense of humour.
- A caring and non-judgemental approach to young people.
- Previous experience working in the SEMH school environment.
- GCSE Grade C in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
- A related NVQ 2 or equivalent.
- A nurturing and supportive nature with good behaviour management strategies
- A current, enhanced, updated DBS check (or be willing to undertake one at our cost).
- Be willing to undergo a thorough personal assessment through the Safer Recruitment process.
