We are MOVING!

When we decided to open our Scunthorpe School we were met with a distinct lack of options for appropriate buildings with an existing educational use class. Our Shelford Street home has served us well but was never ideal and we promised to find better.

We are delighted to announce that our search is over and we have agreed terms to relocate to premises within the John Leggott College Campus at West Common Lane. The opportunity to take a new long term lease with the College allows us to vastly improve our services in the Scunthorpe area and to expand and advance our application for independent licensing. It also continues our preferred model of partnering with local Colleges and being located within aspirational educational settings.

From September 2020 we can announce that we will be basing our Scunthorpe provision from Block M at the John Leggott College. Our new provision is more than double the size of our previous facility, purpose built for education and is contained securely on a single floor overlooking JLC’s sports facilities. Both John Leggott and North Lyndsey Colleges can be accessed directly from the campus grounds which gives us an incredible opportunity to familiarise our students with local educational peer groups, opportunities and environments.

Construction work to make essential alterations to the building has been continuing behind closed doors throughout the summer break to ensure we meet OFSTEDs stringent pre opening inspection standards. Supported by the DFE we aim to be open and licenced for the start of the September term for up to 70 young learners with special educational needs.

This is an incredible opportunity for the Castles team to continue to build on our successes in the region and to support more schools and placing authorities in the surrounding area.
