Castles Futures

Introduction.

Castles Futures Ravendale is an independent, DFE registered, co-educational day school providing specialist SEMH provisions for up to 20 students aged 13-16.

I have a long held belief that all young people deserve the highest quality in education. Here at Castles Futures Ravendale, we work tirelessly to ensure that all young people have opportunities to make progress not just in education but also their own personal development.

Every learner here at Castles Futures will be given support, guidance and when needed access to external professionals, all whilst developing their own social, emotional and interpersonal skill sets.

As an ex mainstream Headteacher, I understand the challenges and pressures young people today face. Working together with our highly skilled team I want to ensure that all of our learners leave not only with fantastic qualifications, but also as valued members of their own community.

SEND.

At Lincoln Ravendale we are committed to inclusion. We aim to maintain and extend our schools culture of inclusion for all of our students. We aim to foster a sense of community, belonging, self-confidence to all learners, taking into account their individual needs and experiences. We aspire to improve social inclusion for all, but especially so for those learners supported by an Education Health Care Plan.

Our tutors are experienced in teaching students with additional learning needs, mapping and personalising learning plans to provide additional and differentiated learning support. Indivdual teaching takes into account the wishes of parents and carers in a balanced and considered way.

Wherever possible we aim to education pupils with SEN and / or EAL issues alongside their peers in a normal classroom setting, using technology to remove barriers to learning whenever appropriate.

SEMH.

Our SEMH provision ensures a broad curriculum enabling every aspect of educational provisions to be made available. We are experienced in addressing a wide range of special needs including emotional and social difficulties. All students are welcomed as individuals whilst taking into account their individual and personal needs in order to plan an effective education.

We are committed to inclusion throughout all of our specialist programmes. We aim to maintain and extend our schools culture of inclusion for all of our students and foster a sense of community, belonging and self-confidence to all.

Safeguarding.

Children with special educational, social needs or disabilities face additional safeguarding challenges. Our child protection and other policies reflect the fact that additional barriers can exist when recognising learning and behavioural issues within each pupil group.

We are members of the Safer Recruitment Consortium and all of our employees attended regular safeguarding and child protection training. We take every precaution to ensure that all individuals, teachers and transient staff are fully vetted, trained and risk assessed to ensure that they continue to meet our strict safeguarding expectations throughout their time with us.

Our core safeguarding checks and policies are class leading and allow us to promise:

- To practice safe recruitment through a mix of specialist training and external auditing.

- To ensure that child protection issues remain at the forefront of our activities.

- To equip our learners with the necessary self-belief and skills to keep them safe.

- To facilitate procedures for identifying and reporting possible cases of abuse.

- To support pupils exposed to safeguarding issues and those with child protection plans.

- To maintain a safe educational environment in which our learners can thrive.
