Media Release.

You may have read or seen recent coverage posted in the local media, on television and other regional news agencies surrounding a major police incident which occurred on the afternoon of Friday 14th May, in which a Police Officer was seriously injured in West Common Lane, Scunthorpe.

The most recent media coverage now suggests that the incident took place within a Castles Futures School. Such suggestions are not true. The incident did however occur after the Police Officers involved had attended to an earlier matter at our Scunthorpe school and where leaving the premises.

A number of Castles Education staff provided help and support at the scene of the incident and will continue to provide assistance to the relevant authorities in any subsequent investigation.

We would reiterate that this was and continues to be a Police matter and as such all enquiries must be referred to the Humberside Police Authority.

Our thoughts remain with the injured Police Officer and his family. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.

We thank all involved for their courage at the scene of the incident and would like to reassure pupils, parents and the wider public that due to the unique nature of this incident there was at no time a threat to the safety of others.
